Adroit helped redevelop Age UK’s internal data warehouse, working in partnership with Age UK’s development team and Business Analyst across 24 months, to support the new design, development, ETL developments, data migration, and redevelopment of the FastStats design and application.

Project management and a hybrid development methodology was key to the successful delivery of the project.  Multiple suppliers were involved on different aspects of the system development, which involved putting in a front-end Microsoft Dynamics system bespoke to the organisation.

Adroit managed dependencies on other suppliers, and developed the core warehouse structure, and data imports of around 30 regular data feeds, which also involved high levels of specification and documentation. The technology used was Microsoft SQL Server, with complex SSIS packages and third-party components for data cleansing.

The sheer scale of the project posed many challenges, especially given that no individual had a full overview of all system components. We applied stringent levels of testing and extensive User Acceptance Testing to ensure that business rules were consistent and adopted seamlessly into the live environment.

This was a major and highly complex project, with a huge impact organisationally and culturally. The warehouse was successfully deployed and had since been running efficiently, providing organisation-wide access to up-to-date data in a highly timely manner and full integration into the new CRM solution.

The data warehouse supports various specialist applications, including the Apteco Marketing Suite and PeopleStage, a campaign management engine.

Other Business Intelligence components such as Tableau work on top of the warehouse. Adroit continue to provide backup support and further development to the solution as needed.
